When Will the Inquest Take Place?

The main inquest hearing should normally take place within six months or as soon as practicable after the death has been reported to the Coroner. Sometimes you may need to wait longer than six months for the inquest due to the complexity of the case or other factors (for instance an investigation by another organisation such as the Health & Safety Executive for a death at work). If so, the Coroner's office will be able to keep you updated on progress.
