Biography

My name is Alyssa Hillyer and I am 16 years old. I started dancing at the age of 2 just before my 3rd birthday. My mum put me into dance because I wouldn't sit still and thought it would be a good idea to help use up all the extra energy! I started at Ann Oliver Stage School which is based in Leicester where I competed in many dance competitions and was successful.

I briefly moved to Hardy Alexandra Dance Academy in Derby to further my training and progress my technique where I was successful in their competition team but this year I'm taking my GCSE's and decided to move back to a dance school closer to home in Leicester as the commute was getting too much whilst studying for school exams. I have now joined True Blue Dance Academy where they have invited me straight into their competition team and where I can further my potential in all dance genres. I have many competitions and shows lined up already and can't wait to get started.

I not only dance but I perform in Musicals as well. I love acting and singing and my ultimate dream is to be a triple threat and perform in the production of Cats in London when it comes back up the West End or anywhere else it's playing in the world! My favourite character right now is Mr Mistofelees but l'll gladly play any of them.

I also attend Leicester Theatre Group and have performed in a number of their shows where I have had a number of dancing and acting parts.Last year I was in these 3 productions:

- Matilda Jnr - I played the part of the Acrobat
- Carousel at Kilworth House
- Cinderella at DeMontfort Hall

But previously I performed in these too:

Boogie Nights, Cats, Disco Inferno & Bring it on

In January 2023 I auditioned at Studio 79 where I gained an on the spot offer to start in their BTEC Musical Theatre Course in September 2023. Something I'm really excited to begin as the I will be training there 5 days a week.

I'd like to gain better classical ballet technique to help further my dance technique alongside my Musical Theatre course at Studio 79 in September so in March 2023 I auditioned for the Chantry School of Dance Classical Ballet Associates where I was successful. The Chantry school have decided they're like to take me on the course from April 2023 and they have also offered me the chance to audition for their 'Origins' Programme - a ballet performance team where I will be able to take part in various public performances within the UK.

Going forward:

In May of this year I will be auditioning for their production of 'Cats' with the Leicester Theatre Group and I'm hoping that I'll be able to perform at the Sue Townsend Theatre in March 2024.

I will be attending the Chantry 3 day summer intensives course (23rd to 25th July 2023). This covers Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Acro and MT.

I've also been accepted on the 3 day Joffrey Intensive at BOA Academy in Birmingham in August (29th to 21st August 2023)

I will blog again soon with my progression and experiences to keep to you updated. 😁

Thank you so much JHMT.
