Heart Smart with Heart Start - Every Child who knows CPR can be a life saver

Sacred Heart Academy in Loughborough held a "Ramp up the Red" day on 7 February, with proceeds going to the British Heart Foundation. De Lisle College students were keen to help with the day to raise the profile of learning emergency first aid, using the BHF HeartStart programme. Sadly, the death of a De Lisle student, Joe Humphries, in 2012 was the spur to learn such skills but students recognise this as a positive way of remembering Joe.
Year 13 students helped to lead workshops with Years 5 and 6, where Sacred Heart pupils gained Level 1 in the BHF HeartStart programme which was delivered by De Lisle staff Helen Hillier and Anita Badock. Year 7 and 11 students, who took part received HeartStart training through the JHMT and De Lisle partnership and then went on to lead an assembly for the whole school on the value of helping others.
