New Balance ESAA English Schools' Championships

This past weekend, from 12th-14th July, I have been taking part in my final competition as an under 20 age group athlete! It was a big success!

On Thursday 12th July, I travelled down to Birmingham, alongside my Leicestershire and Rutland teammates in order to compete in my biggest competition of the year.

My event, the 110m hurdles, didn't kick off till Saturday morning, so I spent Friday in the stands cheering on my teammates as they took to the track and field I various different events.

On Saturday 14th July, I had an early start, leaving the hotel with one of the team managers at 7am in order to arrive at the Alexander Stadium track for 7:30, giving me time for a 2 hour warm up before my call up at 9:40. At 10am, I took to the track for the first time and despite a slow start, managed to claw my way back into the race to place 3rd in my heat and secure my spot in the final, my first ever national final!

The next event I took part in was the heats of the 4x100m, where I ran 3rd leg, helping the team to earn a place in the final.

After that, it was time to once again warm up for my hurdles race. At 4pm, I took to the track for the last time and despite having yet another bad start, I ran a personal best time, finishing 6th in the race!

Not long after my final it was the final of the 4x100m, where I was in the stands to cheer on my teammates who performed excellently to finish 3rd! And due to the fact that I raced in the heats, I was able to go up with the team to receive a bronze medal alongside them and thus earning my first national medal!

I would like to say a huge thank you to the JHMT team for their support across the past couple of seasons, I could not have achieved the success I have without them!
