Back to Training

After spending an incredible month in Sri Lanka volunteering during July, I was itching to get back into training last week and back on the pole.

I was a little worried at how my limited diet of rice and roti along with a vastly reduced training schedule would have affected my strength but fortunately my muscle memory kicked straight back in as I took to the pole at an open competition at Loughborough University on Wednesday and I cleared a comfortable 3m 45cm, so thankfully consistently about where I was at before I went away.

On Sunday I headed up to Wakefield to the Douglas Bedfield Memorial Open and cleared 3m 40cm in hot, sunny conditions to take home the Gold Medal.

There are just two competitions left this season, one back at Charnwood on the 26th August, and then down to London for the Jim Day Event on the 24th September. The aim is to clear 3.60 before we head back indoors so it's back to the gym for some hard sessions for the next few weeks.

After that, it's on to Winter Training at the High PAC for work on strength, conditioning and to start working on technique on my new JHMT pole ready for the start of the Indoors in January.
