Lizzie Warner is 17 years old from Glenfield, Leicestershire and one of the country's top archers in her age range and a a member of Archery GB's Confirmation Academy.
She has have been selected to compete for Great Britain in the European Indoor Archery Championships in France in March. Lizzie's talent have also being recognised locally as she won the Young Sportswoman category at the Leicester Mercury Sports Awards.
Lizzie said: '' To compete in the European Championships. I have to pay the expenses myself and it is going to cost me almost £1000 for travel and accommodation costs. In addition I have to have a 2nd bow to be able to compete. What I want to do is update some of my equipment and use the old parts for my 2nd bow. It is going to cost me hundreds of pounds to buy the equipment I need.
The Inspire Awards grant is vitally important as it will towards the purchase of decent equipment instead of having to buy cheap alternatives. This would help not just for the European Indoor Championships but also for the foreseeable future. I'm hoping I will be selected for Great Britain for the Europa Youth Cup in July and the World Championships in Argentina in October.'
Simon Taylor, Inspire Awards project lead said: It I quite clear that with some additional resources Lizzie will be a top international athlete and it is great to be able to contribute to her success.'
