Biography

Young Karam is 14 years old a member of Leicester Warriors Basketball Club. He started playing basketball for the Leicester Warrior from the age of 8 and would be the first to admit lacked self confidence. With the assistance and encouragement from all the coaches and by listening to advice and giving 100% in practise and games, Karam is growing in confidence and this is being noticed at a national and international levels.

This year 2016, Karam has been a pivotal member of the U14's team with highest points scored, number of assists and rebounds. This level of performance has been rewarded having been selected for trials for the U15's Leicestershire team, selection for the Regional Performance Camp (pathway to England Basketball).

Leicester Warriors coach Arbham Giga said: 'Karam is a dedicated and hardworking player. He is very passionate about basketball and most importantly focuses on getting better and learning all the time. Along with this he is a very mature, polite and charismatic young man.'

Karam has also played his part in Lancaster School becoming the Year 10 Schools' Champions and was leading scorer and won the Players Player of the Year award. This memorable year was was finally capped with an invitation to attend an elite basketball tournament in Madrid ( Spain) in the summer.

The demands of success with success on the court come with a price. Not only in the dedication required but also in the expenses occurred to travel abroad and to national basketball camps along with uniform including socks, shorts and boots.

Karam said: 'The Inspire Award will mean the world to me. Basketball is very expensive, especially when it comes to court hire. My boots are also expensive and so is the travel up and down the country. I have a dream to become an England player and this funding would allow me to keep having top quality training. Every little bit helps me as I'm very determined to achieve my goals. '

Simon Taylor's Inspire Awards project lead said: 'Karam is a great example of how dedication and strength of character are essential for success . Believe in yourself an great things can happen ! We hope the award will provide Karam with the oportunity to succeed that he so richly deserves.
