Hope Warner

Hope Warner

Sports Award

Hope Warner is 16 year's old and from Wigston, Leicestershire.

I have been playing badminton to international standard for the past five years. I am currently ranked no. 1 in England for my age at both mixed doubles and girls doubles and, as an U17 last year, was ranked no. 1 in Europe for mixed doubles. My main achievement in November was becoming U17 European Champion at mixed doubles. I am applying for a JHMT Inspire Award grant to help me to achieve my full potential.

The fund will be used towards international tournament participation. My governing body provides funded international tournament travel and participation to a certain degree, however, it's beneficial to be able to take part in as many international tournaments as possible. Any tournaments outside of those planned by my governing body need to be self-funded and every bit of support like the Inspire grant would help towards these costs. For that I'm truly grateful as I want to go as far as I can to be the best that I can be.

Hope was recently named Leicester Mercury's Young Sportswoman of the Year.

Simon Taylor, Inspire Lead, said; ' Hope is a truly inspirational young sportswoman and we hope the award will help her maintain her exceptionally high standards and act as an inspiration for others'
