Biography

Over the course of the 4 years, I have trained regularly with my coach at Charnwood AC doing interval training at Loughborough University athletics track, along with sessions on road and in the Outwoods, along with my personal favourite- a long run around Leicestershire countryside.

Since coming under the guidance of my current coach Roy, I have steadily improved, achieving 9th in the Midlands Cross Country, in the bottom year out of 3 years in the U20 category this year. I also ran the 2nd fastest leg of the day in the Midlands Cross Country relays in 2016 and have twice qualified to represent East Midlands in the London Mini Marathon in 2015 and 2017- this in particular I was happy about as I enjoy road running. I also run on the track and have won the 3000m at County Schools Championships for 3 consecutive years, along with other county medals over distances ranging from 800m up to Cross Country. I also regularly represent Leicestershire in events such as Inter-Counties and English Schools national competitions.

My goals for 2018 are to improve my PBs on track races, along with racing some local road races against people of an older age group- this would really help me to develop my stamina for my first half marathon - the Great North Run in September. The grant from the Inspire Awards will help massively to fund travel to these races- which in recent years have stretched from London to Leeds to Norwich! Thank you so much for your help!

Simon Taylor, Inspire lead, said; ' We wish Amy every success with her road running goals in 2018. We are also delighted that the JHMT Inspire award grant will help her compete at the blue ribbon race events across the UK.'
