JHMT's Support

Abby Smith, 19 years of age, is keen to develop her digital photography skills online using a range of formats and programmes. This however will require the use of a laptop to give her the independence and opportunity, as a member of *Soft Touch Arts, to store key art work, write blogs and promote herself to a wider audience.

Abby see’s this as a major stepping stone to a brighter future and said: ‘This vital piece of IT equipment will help me to develop my own creative ideas and products as well as going on to hopefully create my own website. I will engage with other young people and encourage them to add their own art work to the blog. Soft Touch Arts has a lot of disadvantaged young people who come along with nowhere to put their artwork or to tell their story. If I was successful with my work then I would hope to help exhibit other people’s work.

'The JHMT Inspire Awards grant would give me access to good quality, programmes like Photoshop for example, as it's vitally important to be able to produce my work. It would also give me access to the internet and media and explore more areas and ideas for selling and promoting my work. Also with the memory that this laptop provides I can store my work and organise it much more efficiently than I have in the past,’ she added.

Rhonda Olsen, JHMT Inspire Awards, said:

The JHMT Inspire Awards team are delighted to support Abby with her digital photography ambitions. . Not only will her Inspire Award help her with her projects but also her aim to help other young people like her.
