HSBC Cyclocross National Championships 2019

What an amazing weekend, I was very excited but also quite nervous because I had one chance to win and there was a lot of pressure on me to win.

I went out to practice the course on the Friday, before the race on the Saturday, and the course suited me very well with a few banks and was very dry. It was very simple and didn't really have much to practice before I thought it was complete and I had everything correct in my mind. Then it was a case of eating some good race carbs and having an early night so I was the most prepared I could be.

Race day arrived, and I went out to do a one lap of the course to check if anything had changed and sort out tyre pressures, because our race was the second race of the day and so from the race before the conditions wouldn't have changed that much because it was just so dry. After course practice, I had 2 hours to chill and get my nutrition right, as for normal HSBC National Trophy events my race would be a bit earlier so I went and watched the start of the women's race and then went back to get changed and start a good warm up.

I was soon on the start line and the whistle was being blown, I didn't have a brilliant start and was in third until the first bend where I moved up into second and was comfortably sat in behind one of my biggest rivals, until we came to our first bank where I smoothly under took her and had the best line around the corner. I then never got overtook and built my gap to win the U14 Female HSBC Cyclocross National Championships!

What an amazing day, definitely the biggest success I've had in my whole career of cycling and will remember that forever. I received my national jersey and the Judith Sears Trophy and spent quite a bit of time being interviewed and having my photo taken and even got to be interviewed on the Cyclocross Crosscast with Helen Wyman, what a day!

Thankyou JHMT for supporting me throughout the season and helping me to get the best equipment possible. 😊
