Junior Indoor Cricket World series; Christchurch New Zealand 2018

I have just arrived home from New Zealand following an amazing fortnight of cricket.

Just before the tour I was selected as the Under 17 Girls England Captain. We had a 36-hour flight on Monday 24

th September and an 11-hour change in time zone. We spent the first part of the week in training and had our practice game on the Friday. This game was against South Africa Under 17 girls.

Unfortunately, we lost by 3 runs, however I was delighted to be given the player of the match!

On Saturday 29

th there was the official opening ceremony where we saw an amazing display of the local dance "the New Zealand Haka", followed by our opening group stage Game.

What an amazing atmosphere hearing the chants of the England Fans whilst playing- it was surreal!

We continued a round robin of games in the group stages but unfortunately did not progress to the semi-finals.

At the beginning of each game we were presented with a gift from the opposition. Most teams gave pins out and we elected to give commemorative towels to our opponents. Between games we got the chance to talk to players from around the world; We particularly bonded with the incredibly talented Australian girls who went on to win the final. We agreed to swap shirts with these girls after the tournament and as a result I now own a World cup winning shirt!
