Ras na mBan 5 day stage race

Last week I took part in the Ras na mBan, Ireland's premier International stage race covering 391km of racing over 5 days. This would be my long stage race to date, I wasn't phased by what was to come if anything I couldn't wait to get racing.

I was guesting for Team Backstedt-Hotchillee with 4 other junior girls under the support of Magnus Backstead and Gareth Ellis.Stage 1 was 70km, I finished 27th out of 119 starters. Stage 2 was very wet and misty and as a result several riders crashed on the decent, thankfully I missed the crashes. Stage 3 was the hill top finish up Mount Leinster and as expected the bunch competely split on the climb, I finished 38th and 2 mins down on GC. Stage 4 was the hilly TT, it wasn't the result I was expecting but again another consistent performance. Stage 5 was an hour long city centre criterium race in Kilkenney, I was pleased to stay upright finishing closely behind the main bunch. By stage 6 there were some pretty tired legs, I tried to stay towards the front especially with a climb at the halfway point. In all I was pretty consistent finishing 36th overall on GC.
